"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders
of the country who determine policy, and it's always a simple matter to
drag the people along whether it's a Democracy, a Fascist Dictatorship,
a Parliament, or a Communist Dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the
people can always be brought to the bidding of its leaders. That is
easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and
denounce the Pacifists for lack of Patriotism and exposing the country
to danger. It works the same way in any country." - Herman Goering, 1946, quoted in Gustave Gilbert's Nuremberg Diary |

Though you never believed there could be Such a thing as too many monkeys You'll be forced to admit That it's possible in a pair of pants. |
| Sometimes, I either come up out of depression, or sink down deep enough into it to actually make something. I'm a card carrying member of a geek cult. I work for a living. I'm conceited. Java, Microsoft and Netscape kinda suck. Most games suck. I whine about other things, too. Some things don't suck, surprisingly enough. Of course, some things still just really take the biscuit when it comes to sucking. I like motorcycles, even though they are deathtraps. You owe it to yourself to read sites like 2600 and Peacefire. Alexander's pattern languages are very cool; if you can find back issues of Speak magazine, read Tom's interview with him. I used to be something of an Objectivist, but these days I'm not. Sometimes, insane people say the sanest things. Don't install foreign software because it can be pretty scary to get some kind of uninstall warning dialog. Fight the power! Check out the Total Perspective Vortex (requires Java). And, boy, what a banner year that was for graphic design! |
