I've been spending some time working on converting my lathe to CNC control. I have a Grizzly 8x18 lathe (50k jpeg), and I've attached a stepper motor to the cross slide hand wheel via a toothed belt (40k jpeg). I designed some stepper motor driver boards (49k jpeg), and have run the cross slide from my computer, but I have yet to attach the (much beefier) 5 phase stepper the lead screw.
