ABOUT ROBINHOOD
A fintech innovator with enterprise-scale security needs.
Robinhood Markets, Inc. set out to democratize finance, building a platform that made investing accessible to everyday people. That mission drove rapid growth, and with scale came complexity. As their user base expanded, so did the breadth of tools, services, and SaaS products powering the business behind the scenes. Each of those systems generates security data, and making sense of it all became a challenge in its own right.
For a company operating in financial services, strong security operations are non-negotiable. Robinhood’s security team is responsible for ingesting and analyzing data from a sprawling stack of third-party providers, correlating signals across platforms, and responding to threats quickly. What they had was a growing pile of custom integrations that demanded constant attention.
THE CHALLENGE
Dozens of sources. Dozens of headaches.
As Robinhood scaled, their security data complexity scaled right along with it. Their in-house solution for pulling logs from dozens of SaaS providers had started as a practical workaround, but it quietly turned into a full-time maintenance job.
The core problem was the sheer variety of what they were dealing with. Each data source came with its own format, its own authentication method, and its own delivery mechanism. Aggregating and correlating all of it required deep familiarity with each individual API, and any time a vendor changed something upstream, someone at Robinhood had to fix it.
Eventually it became clear that maintaining a custom pipeline in-house was pulling engineering resources away from work that actually moved the needle. Robinhood began looking for an external solution that could handle the complexity of their data stack without creating a new maintenance burden of its own.
THE SOLUTION
One platform. Zero connector babysitting.
Robinhood adopted Monad to unify their security data pipeline, replacing the patchwork of custom integrations with a single vendor-agnostic layer that handles the complexity for them.
- Vendor-agnostic routing to Splunk, S3, or Databricks
- One-click connectivity to new data sources
- Zero connector maintenance, with updates handled automatically
- Broad compatibility across a wide array of data sources and formats
- Scales with data volume without performance degradation
“Managing logs ingested from dozens of SaaS providers, each with its own format, authentication and delivery method is a challenge that required a significant investment of human hours. Tarsal (now Monad) takes away this overhead and enables us to focus on security improvements that are unique to Robinhood.”
David Seidman
Former Head of Security Operations, Robinhood
THE RESULTS
Engineers doing engineer work again.
01 Faster, more cost-effective log coverage for threat detection and response across all SaaS sources.
02 Zero time spent on connector maintenance, freeing security engineers to focus on detection logic and threat hunting.
03 Continued platform expansion on the strength of early results, with Robinhood growing their use of Monad over time.
